Home Telemarketing: Fact Or Fiction?
Many classified ads contain job advertisements promising that telemarketers who work from home make as much or more money as those who work in a call center. There are even some that claim earning potentials of thousands in the first week. It's only smart to be skeptical of such claims, but are there really work from home telemarketing jobs?
Actually there are such jobs. For many people a work from home telemarketing job is a great way to make money, if coupled with quality products and support. However, these jobs are not in great abundance. The quality work from home jobs are not easy to find and must be sorted out of the vast majority of undesirable clones. Lemaire sticks with what he knows
Jacques Lemaire raised the Stanley Cup over his head in celebration eight times when he skated for the Montreal Canadiens and still insists he didn't seriously consider coaching once his playing days ended.
Why?
"It's one thing I didn't want to be," Lemaire recalled recently. "I mentioned it to the players a lot -- I don't want to be hated."
Well, 436 regular-season coaching wins later, Lemaire is regarded as one of the most respected National Hockey League coaches, and at midseason he has the Minnesota Wild in playoff contention.

Flint feeling right at home
PHILADELPHIA -- Drexel is the afterthought in Philadelphia's rich college basketball scene, the sixth wheel in a metropolitan area whose other Division 1 schools are lumped into an informal cartel known as the Big Five. If they played pickup, Drexel would be the kid brother called onto the playground to even up the sides.
City native James "Bruiser" Flint put it succinctly: "When I was growing up, you never worried about Drexel."
Flint, 41, knew exactly what he was getting into when he took the Drexel job six years ago, shortly after he was cut loose by the University of Massachusetts. He needed to make an overlooked team not only worthy of attention but also competitive in a new, tougher league, the Colonial Athletic Association.
He appears to have succeeded.
ASK ELLIE: Get dad new interests for his loneliness
Dear Ellie: My father-in-law wants to move in with us. We're a happy family of three; he's a miserable old man. There are no health issues; since widowed, he misses the company and is too lazy to care for himself.
He doesn't want to go into a retirement home. We don't want him here; it would cause a major inconvenience and stress. But, the old guy has cash, and everything has it's price. We'd be willing to accommodate him if certain that we're included in his will. For example, we might borrow money to expand our house, or buy a cottage for getaways. Is there any way of addressing this issue without being so blunt? Let's Make a Deal
Dear Let's Make A Deal: When you sell your soul to the devil, don't be surprised when he bites! Your dislike for this man will show, no matter how much money changes hands.
Snow, but no emergency
Neither St. Paul nor Minneapolis declared a snow emergency Monday, but that didn't mean plow drivers stayed home on the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
Crews were out plowing, sanding and salting the roads to combat the 3 to 5 inches of snow that fell Sunday night and Monday morning.
Public works officials also battled the misconception that if there's no snow emergency, there's no plowing.
"Nothing could be further from the truth," said Mike Kennedy, director of winter operations for the Minneapolis Public Works Department.
Crews are on the road, doing back-to-back 12-hour shifts, plowing and sanding, he said. St. Paul crews got started at midnight Sunday.
"We had about 28 equipment pieces out and then followed that up with an additional 14 at 8:30 a.m.," said St.

Radon dangers exist in Aiken
Radon is the number one cause of lung cancer among non-smokers, but it's odorless, tasteless and invisible and can literally sneak up on you while you sleep.
The gas moves into a home through cracks and holes in the foundation, and when radon is inhaled, it can change the cells in the lungs, increasing the chances of lung cancer, according to the Department of Health and Environmental Services.
About 2,900 of the 21,000 radon-related deaths each year occur among people who have never smoked, according to the Environmental Protection Agency.
But, it is a naturally occurring radioactive gas, and there are few testing mandates.
As radon decays it moves through the soil and into homes and other buildings, Reggie Massey, a radon specialist formerly with DHEC said.
