Not all churches should be probed - Lutfo
MINISTER of Enterprise and Employment Lutfo Dlamini has said only churches which registered under his portfolio should be investigated for profit-making. In an interview, the minister said there were certain individuals, mostly from other countries, who approached the Training and Localisation Board to apply for work permits under the pretext that they would start non-profit making organisations.
"What I said that day was that, of late, the ministry has been registering more churches as Section 21 companies. They don't go to the Ministry of Home Affairs. They have directors and even lawyers. All I'm saying is that I need to be satisfied that the churches are doing the right thing as they make money and also getting funding from other organisations. I asked the Training and Licencing Board to look into this and I need recommendations," he said.
